A. Cutting: 1. Make sure the blade in your plotter is sharp. 2. Set your blade as you would for premium 2 mil. vinyl. (printable signgold requires slightly more pressure) 3. Make a 1/2" Square test cut before starting your project. 4. Never allow signgold to fold or crease to prevent tunneling. B. Weeding: 1. SignGold is only 1 Mil thick, it weeds easier than most premium vinyl's.
C. Application Tape: 1. Use a medium or high tack tape such as Transferite or Poli- Tape. Both make a transparent tape, which will make registration to your outline easier. (Transferrite 1510 * Poli-Tape 160) 2 Squeegee down tape firmly.
D. Application Methods: 1. Dry application is recommended, but a light mist of Rapid Tac or Action Tac is acceptable. * Never apply SignGold Silver Wet! * SignGold Silver is not recommended for outdoor use. 2. Never use ammonia base liquid (windex, ETC.) for applying. 3. Squeegee from the center out, in the direction of the shortest distance. 4. Never remove application tape "straight up" always peel away at a 180 degree angle to surface. 5. When applying Signgold to sheet acrylic, remove protective film from acrylic 24 hours prior to installing. 6. When applying signgold to newly painted surfaces, follow the manufacturers recommended drying times before applying. 7. Wood signs must be coated with eproxy or oil base finish to restrict moisture exposure to backside of signgold. E. Edge Sealing: 1. If your project is going to be exposed to wiping, washing, or polishing such as on a vehicle, boat, window, ETC. you must edge seal it! SignGold Silver must be edge sealed for use indoors 2. Never apply signgold products over latex or any water base paint. We recommend oil base paints.
